More than any other group in our experience, the Japanese are responsive to and highly sensitive to the consequences of their actions and words with respect to those around them - they are most careful to calibrate how what they are doing is touching those around them.This is technically known as rapport relationships or 2nd positioning. Whilst these implicit skill sets are ubiquitous in Japanese culture, they are not necessarily recognized explictly even by those extremely skilled in their use.We therefore wish to make explicit that there are precise, simple and powerful patterns available to those wishing to raise their competency in achieving a strong rapport relationship on-demand with anyone they chose. Our purpose indescribing these patterns is to ensure that each of you as agents of change have a full set of explicit ways to achieve rapport in addition to those already available within Japanese culture. With disciplined practice, you wills ucceed in making these patterns as natural as those already available to you as a Japanese person. The application of each and every one of these Crisis Patterns begins with three movements:


1. checking to ensure that your own state is congruent, focused and you have a clear intention for what you wish to accomplish


2. checking to ensure that the client is in a state from which they will be able to effectively participate with you to achieve the goals that they have, to develop the choices they presently lack

3. establishing rapport: the seizing and holding of the attention of the unconscious processes of the client


Without ensuring that these three things are accomplished, there is little point in attempting to make an intervention -thus, the importance of and high priority given to making certain that these three thing are accomplished successfully
